13 Things UP Students Do Not Know

Being smart is not know-it-all. This describes us UP students because we are still humans that are fallible. We do not know everything but we know how to ask.
Below are SOME of the things that UP students do not know. But, there’s always exception to these things.

1. UP students do not know PICC
It is true that we UP students do not know PICC or SMX Convention Center, especially the Diliman and Los Banos campuses because we have our own venue to hold our commencement exercises. UP Diliman has Amphitheater. UPLB has Freedom Park.  Everyone can watch how graduation is done in UP.

2. UP students do not know what spoon feeding is
Spoon feeding is not in the vocabulary of every UP students because we know how to do things on our own, we know how to be independent especially those students who come from far places from their campuses to live on dormitories and the like, and we know how to get our own plates and cook the food. Enlistment and prerog during enrollment prove that we are not being spoon fed.

3. UP students do not know how to wear uniforms or tie a tie
It has long been a practice for UP students to wear any kind of clothes they are comfortable with when coming to classes. It is actually a part of the academic freedom that other schools do not have. We also do not know how to tie a tie because obviously we do not have it. But, we know how to wear formal and business attire, just in case, but not perfect.

Unibersidad ng Pag-ibig that is not UP. We are so lovable but it seems that no one ever notices or feels it, even our own kapwa Iskolar ng Bayan. Iyak!

6. UP students do not know how to be passive
Expected from us is to do something for the people, for the nation. Hence, it is in our minds to be active at all time with effort or we call it, proactive. We do any forms of activism not just bringing ourselves and our call to streets. But, of course, we are not able to do it by ourselves. Everybody deserves everybody.

7. UP students do not usually know UNO
Uno is the highest grade that we can get but it takes at least our 100% effort to earn it. It is common in fact that one has no Uno grade in a semester. But you know, as our teachers tell us, pursuit of knowledge is better than pursuit for a better grade. Uno is just a number after all. We know how to play this, tho:

8. UP students do not know how to do papers days before the deadline.
We have already mastered the art and science of procrastination hence we do not usually do our papers ahead of time before the due. You know, we are used to the pressure of time. Sometimes, procrastinated paper are higher than not.

9.  UP students do not usually know how to pass the UP LAE
If you think that UP students have the priority to be admitted to the UP Law by taking the Law Aptitude Exam, think again. UP LAE is really based on merit hence, any students from any schools can pass the exam, with honors or not. Wonder why it is hard to ace? Then take the exam this November!

10. UP students do not know UAAP basketball championship from 1987-2013. 2014 will be different.
Is this just a wishful thinking or UP MBT will really make a big comeback this season?

11. UP students do not know the streets in their campus.
If you were to ask a UP student if where this specific street is, usually he/she can’t answer it. We used to answer relative location, not absolute one. So, if you are an outsider going to UP, do not ask for the street. Just don’t!

12. UP students do not know how to pose in Oblation
You cannot see any UP students taking their photo with the Oblation or Oble as their background. We have this superstitious belief that if we do it, we won’t graduate on time. Nevertheless, whether we pose or not pose with Oble, we wouldn’t know if we will graduate on time or not.
