UP Likas’ conference brings you the promises of Commonwealth in the Philippines

The UP Lipunang Pangkasaysayan, a premier History student organization in the University of the Philippines-Diliman, will be holding its national conference on Commonwealth and its promises of freedom, sovereignty and development in the Philippines entitled Komonwelt: Landas Tungo sa Kasaysayan.

The national conference will tackle, among other things, the preparation of the country toward the establishment of Commonwealth, the political, social and cultural situations of the Filipinos during the period and the reactions of the citizens in embracing yet another government by the Americans for the Filipinos. It will also shed light in the concept of freedom, sovereignty and independencia in the context of the Philippines. This conference is in time for the 80th anniversary this year of the establishment of the Commonwealth government in the Philippines.

Several well-known academicians and historians are expected to discuss the issues and topics. Among these people are Dr. Ricardo Jose, Dr. Noel V. Teodoro, Dr. Milagros Guerrero, Dr. Pamela Constantino, Professor Rene Escalante and Professor Ramon Guillermo to name the few.

This 24th national conference of UP Likas is endorsed by the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education that will be held on Sept. 25-26 at the NISMED Auditorium, UP Diliman, Quezon City. Hundreds of students, faculties and history enthusiasts are expected to attend the conference.
