A Day in Pandan Island

Pandan Island does not ring a bell to many, not even to you, not even to me actually. But once you go there for a day or two, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to forget it as long as you live (laughs).

A laid-back island with tropical vibe, Pandan Island offers a different and unique experience. It showcase itself that is more than “simple life at its best”.

Getting there

Pandan Island is located just some 15 minutes away off the coast of Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro. The white sand beach of Pandan can actually be seen from the coast.

Going there is easy, especially if you have (more) time and money.

Option 1 (if time is not a problem): There are buses plying directly to Sablayan from Manila. From Sablayan, ride a tricycle going to “Punta” where boats to Pandan Island are waiting. There are many entry points going to Sablayan but I would recommend to take the “Punta” entrance.

Option 2 (if money is not an issue): Book a flight from Manila to San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. Cebu Pacific has flights going there. From San Jose Airport, ride a tricycle going to van terminals. Ride a van going to Abra de Ilog which will pass by Sablayan. From Sablayan, ride a tricycle going to “Punta” where boats to the island are waiting.

Pandan Island is being managed by the lone resort in the island – the Pandan Island Resort. Go immediately to the front desk and pay the day tour fee. Then your day starts.

  • We only avail day tour so the only accommodation is a table and chairs. Bring panlatag, tent, etc. There are “duyan” you can use first-come, first-serve.
  • Use of comfort room is already included in the resort fee (whether peeing, taking a bath or whatnot)
  • Bring snorkel gear. Did I forget that Pandan Island is a good snorkeling site? They actually have a coral garden snorkeling package for a price. The coral garden is located around the island. We actually saw turtles!
  • Phone signals and data connections are not problems in the island. We even able to post some photos and IG stories on our IG accounts.
  • There are many foreigners in the island so time for you to know some of them.

Contact numbers and other info:

  • You can contact our boatman at 09265035464. No need to contact the resort before contacting the boatman if you will be on a day tour.
  • For accommodation and other rates, you can visit the Pandan Island Resort website at pandan.com
  • If you’re a fan of ziplines, Sablayan houses the world’s longest island to island zipline (more than 1km) near Punta. Zipline costs Php300 (one way) and Php500 (back and forth). If one way, there is a boat transfer back to the coast for Php30.
